After much encouragement, I have decided to design genuine quality leather and hair-on hide purses that pay homage to my Native American ancestry. My first in this series is The “Naja” purse and will be limited quantity.
The “naja” symbol most recognized is the turquoise horseshoe shaped pendant most associated with the squash blossom necklace. I’m Native American tradition, this turquoise Naja is meant to provide protection, strength, & tranquility. This design is hand tooled into the leather, along with a floral pattern and my distinct tooled white diamond border..the diamond shape significant to the Choctaw, which represents nature as seen mostly in the diamondback rattlesnake. Our ancestors revered it as an animal of great strength and power, but it did not attack without provocation. Thanks for bearing with me…now the purse measures 12x12, removable adjustable leather strap. Black leather with fringe & black/white hair-on cowhide will vary.
